Disneyland Resort Brings Holiday Magic Into the Community
From collecting Toys for Tots and decorating the homes of military families to throwing holiday parties for patients at CHOC Children’s and the elderly, Disneyland Resort spread the spirit of the season throughout the local community.
For the sixth year, the Disneyland Resort parade maintenance team brought holiday decorations to Camp Pendleton for Operation Sparkle. Disney VoluntEARS also brightened the spirits of seniors at Walnut Manor Care Center in Anaheim by dropping off gifts to residents with Mickey Mouse. For the 18
th consecutive year, patients and families at CHOC Children’s in Orange enjoyed a Disney-sponsored holiday party with Mickey Mo
use and his friends, games, cookie decorating and one of Orange County’s longest yule logs! And more than 8,000 toys were collected at the Disneyland Resort for Toys for Tots.
“Disneyland Resort cast members were focused on making the holiday season as bright as possible, for as many people as possible,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of Disneyland Resort. “Giving back to the community has always been part of our culture, and I am proud of our cast members and the impact they make throughout Anaheim and Orange County.”

Security Cast Members Secure Pay Raise
The Disneyland Resort announced this week that 1,200 cast members from the Independent Employee Service Association (IESA), representing resort security workers, ratified a four-year agreement with starting rates of $16.60 per hour, which is an initial 25 percent increase in the first year of the agreement. The new rates will be effective Jan. 9, 2019.
By the end of January the majority of Disneyland cast members will receive $15 minimum rates – delivering on the largest wage increases for cast members in the Resort's history.
“We are proud of the work we’ve accomplished to further enhance the cast experience,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of the Disneyland Resort. “From the largest wage increases in the resort’s history to implementing groundbreaking programs such as Disney Aspire, we have accomplished a lot together.”

Celebrating 35 Years of the Disney VoluntEARS Program
Congratulations to the Disney VoluntEARS program, which celebrated 35 years. Started by a group of dedicated cast members at the Disneyland Resort, the program quickly grew company wide, allowing us to accomplish great things across the globe. In a special event marking the occasion, Disneyland VoluntEARS sorted and donated 30,000 books for Anaheim children through the nonprofit First Book, and assembled 1,000 education kits through Save the Children. Cast members who volunteered a minimum of 35 hours in 2018 earned a special Disney VoluntEARS medallion, recognizing them for helping to grow the global program to more than 10 million hours of volunteer service.
Thank you to Disney VoluntEARS, who have shown the importance of giving back and investing in future generations.

Disneyland Resort Sponsors Wyland Clean Water Mobile Learning Experience in 10 Anaheim Schools
More than 3,000 Anaheim fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students experienced Wyland Foundation’s Clean Water Mobile Learning Center this year, thanks to a Disneyland Resort sponsorship that brought the interactive exhibit to 10 Anaheim elementary schools. The last stop was on Dec. 13 at Crescent Elementary, where students discovered what they can do to improve the quality of Southern California’s water with the help of Disney VoluntEARS.
“Working together with Disneyland Resort, we’ve made a measurable change in the way Anaheim-area students look at the health of our local watersheds,” said Environmental Artist Wyland. “It really takes a huge network of groups to ensure a sustainable environment, and I'm proud to say that Disneyland Resort is one of those groups that's leading the way in our community.”

Anaheim Sixth Graders Make a Difference in Their Community, Earn Disneyland Tickets Through the Happiest Class on Earth Program
The Disneyland Resort Happiest Class on Earth program encourages and inspires Anaheim sixth graders to give back to the place they call home – Anaheim! Since 2016, more than 9,000 sixth graders at 48 Anaheim elementary schools have given back to their schools and local communities through this program, and earned tickets to visit the Disneyland Resort.
To help Anaheim families in need during the holidays, sixth-grade students at Robert M. Pyles Elementary each collected 10 non-perishable food items that were later donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. At Westmont Elementary, students wrote 115 thank you letters to veterans that are currently in the VA hospital in Long Beach.

Each year, our parade maintenance team brings holiday decorations to Camp Pendleton for Operation Sparkle as a way to give back to the servicemen and women who sacrifice themselves for our well-being. To be able to help one or two military families each year by decorating their homes for the holidays is the least we can do. My team is able to utilize our talents for this event—just as we do for our parades at the Disneyland Resort.
This year, two families spent the day at the Disneyland Resort while we decorated their homes. As a surprise, they returned to the base to see their homes decked out with lights, Christmas trees and gifts.
I am happy to work for a company that not only supports bigger charities, but also supports smaller efforts like Operation Sparkle, encouraging cast members to get involved on a personal level. I feel you should do what you can to help others. Sometimes, if you can’t help monetarily, and instead lend your skill set to help someone else in need, it can go a long way!
