A few years ago, I featured one of the "CNBC Disruptor 50” each week as a way to spotlight innovative companies doing really cool things. I thought it might be interesting to look back at a few of the companies who made that list oh so many years ago (not that many!) and see how they’re doing.
Remember Waze? How about Dropbox? Spotify, Kickstarter, Warby Parker, and Rent the Runway were part of the original group. Truth be told, I had no idea what Rent the Runway was until informed by a few fellow state chamber leaders at a recent meeting.
Many of these companies, and others from the earliest days of the Disruptor 50 list, have gone on to success. In a fast-paced world, this highlights how quickly things can change and why it's essential for public policy leaders to work side-by-side with us to do the very best we can for employers, employees, and our economy. These companies are evidence that innovators in New Delhi, New York, or the Netherlands, can impact business in Newark, Newport, and elsewhere around our state in no time at all.
