Long and short of it
Hello my fellow Lions and Leos,

Sometimes it seemed like my year as District 1-F Governor would stretch on forever, but now that the end is near my only regret is that it went too fast.

The year started off with a big bang. We mustered up some Lions to help those in need due to a large flood in most of Lake County. Thanks to the lead of PDG Lion Larry Spaeth who activated the Lions Alert program and was able to obtain a grant of $10,000 for the flood victims. What a start to my year as Governor!

I would like to thank my entire cabinet and all of the Lions in District 1-F. I know that it is very challenging to maintain the numbers of members and clubs, but I am proud of our district. All of the Lions in District 1-F have done so many good things for people in need. We were able to help people who needed glasses, hearing aids and financial assistance to attend Camp Lions. We also supported the Lions of Illinois Foundation.

As I went to visit the clubs in our District, I observed the projects and help that so many were able to receive. These achievements were so gratifying to see. It was such a great experience visiting the clubs and meeting so many of my fellow Lions who worked so hard to achieve our goals. I learned so much about the District, clubs and my fellow Lions.

Each club had its own special way of achieving the cause of Lions. So many pancake breakfasts, steer roasts, pig roasts, Christmas trees, wreaths, raffles, lawn mower care and other events that this District held to help those in need.

I feel the District events like the Pig Pen Derby, District Convention and the Raffle for the International Convention went well. This along with other projects the District and other clubs held made our District achieve the MOTTO that we are known for in Lions: "WE SERVE."

I want to THANK all the Lions and Leos for their hard work and effort. Also, thank all of you for allowing me to be your Governor this past year.
Yours in Lionism,
Lion Alan J. Barack
