Office of the Comptroller of Maryland News

The Office of the Comptroller of Maryland announced that Maryland Tax Connect, the agency’s secure, self-service tax portal, will expand to serve individual taxpayers beginning September 1, 2026, marking the first system-wide modernization of Maryland’s tax infrastructure in more than 30 years.

Maryland Tax Connect is an online tax portal offering real-time account balances, complete filing history, and expanded self-service tools, already in use by Maryland businesses to file returns, manage accounts, and communicate directly with the Comptroller’s office. Beginning September 1, the portal will extend those same capabilities to individual filers, including the ability to file income tax returns, make estimated payments, set up payment plans, and more. The new portal will be free to use and available to all Maryland individual taxpayers beginning September 1.

This is one of the most significant technology investments Maryland has made in a generation, and change can be accompanied by challenges. That’s why the transition is scheduled for the end of August, when tax activity across the state is at its lowest, to minimize disruption for Marylanders. Because all of the data currently housed in our state’s mainframe system must be transitioned to the new cloud-based system, most services will be temporarily unavailable beginning in late July. If you have a payment due or a return to file in August, please review the schedule below and act before the applicable deadline.

AAEDC Launches New Website

The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC) is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, a modern platform created to support the growth of existing businesses while helping attract new companies and investment to Anne Arundel County.

The launch marks the first comprehensive redesign of AAEDC's website since 2014. Following the completion of AAEDC's Strategic Plan in 2025, the organization identified opportunities to better showcase Anne Arundel County's target industries, strengthen business attraction efforts, and improve access to resources and information for businesses.

The redesigned website was built with two primary goals in mind: supporting business attraction efforts and improving access to information, programs, and resources for businesses already operating in Anne Arundel County.

Key features include:

  • A new business attraction platform, "Why Anne Arundel," showcasing Anne Arundel County's competitive advantages and value proposition.
  • Dedicated Key Industry pages aligned with Strategic Plan target industries
  • A commercial real estate search tool paired with site selection resources and development information.
  • A searchable Resource Hub with more than 150 resources
  • Improved navigation, user experience, search engine optimization, and accessibility features that align with current ADA standards
  • Real success stories and authentic photography highlighting our community

The website also places a stronger emphasis on regional connections and partnerships, highlighting the organizations, assets, infrastructure, and quality-of-life amenities that contribute to Anne Arundel County's economic success and competitiveness.
