DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS
District 27 Toastmasters International 2022 Contests format will be In-person
On 10 July 2021, the District 27 District Executive Council voted to proceed with the results of a survey of the membership on the format for all Area, Division and District International Speech Contests. The results of the survey with a simple majority was to conduct the contests in-person.
Note the 2022 District 27 International Speech Contest will be held at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City on Saturday May 8th, 2022.

The month of August is so important!!
At this point, clubs officers should be polishing off their Club Success Plans as a roadmap for a productive and beneficial year and submitting them in Club Central. Club officers should be signing the new club officer agreement and release. Area Directors are completing their Area Director Club Visits to turn in their new Area Director Club Visit Reports in District Central by August 31, 2021.

Arlington County Fair Booth Tabling
District 27 Toastmasters will be tabling at the Arlington County Fair this year! We will be promoting our clubs in District 27 and need your assistance. We need gracious volunteers to help us man our booth. Bottled water and snacks will be provided for our volunteers. The booth will be inside and include one table, electricity, chairs, and wifi.
The fair will be at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center and Park, 3501 2nd Street S, Arlington, VA 22204. The fair will be from Friday, August 20, 2021 to Sunday, August 22, 2021. For more information about the Arlington County Fair, visit https://arlingtoncountyfair.us.

District 27 CLUB GROWTH INCENTIVES |
|
Please disseminate among your clubs in your area information about the club growth incentives below. Don't forget to advocate for these incentives as it will help the clubs maintain a strong presence and membership base.
Take the Lead – Any Toastmasters member who provides District 27 Club Growth Director with a qualified club lead that results in a chartered new club will receive a signed Certificate of Appreciation and a Toastmasters shirt or hoodie of his/her choice. Lead must be provided before September 20, 2021.
First-Rate Eight – District 27 clubs that have eight members renewed for the October 2021 – March 2022 period by September 30, 2021 will receive a Toastmasters promotional pen and navy tote bag for the first eight members to renew.
A Full Year of Cheer – The first twenty-five clubs that get all of their members to renew for the entire program year before November 30, 2021 will receive a USB webcam or a clip-on ring light from the Toastmasters International online store. This will be shipped to the club’s sergeant-at-arms.

A Hybrid Meeting combines both in-person and online participants, and offering an equally positive experience to both audiences can be a tricky balance. That said, hybrid meetings are worth trying when your club is ready. Many clubs will likely try the hybrid format as a transitional measure coming out of the pandemic, but that does not mean they have to or ought to commit to the hybrid format long term…. Greetings District 27 Toastmasters!
This is the 2nd month of the Toastmaster year 2021-2022. In the words of Kobe Bryant “learn to dance beautifully in the box you are in”
Is the Pathways Program a box that is paralyzing you? Sometimes, the very thing we need to learn is what we are resisting! Remember, we learn by doing! I encourage you to embrace the Pathways Program, one project at a time. it’s not a race, it’s a journey!
Toastmasters is the best place where we can strengthen our communication and leadership skills, and lead while we learn and learn as we lead! Don’t let anything restrict you! If you are struggling with Pathways, remember “learn to dance in the box you are in!”
