From the Desk of the District Director
A change in seasons means time to hope for new things and positivity this Fall. As a Toastmaster, you are the role model who has shown perseverance and resiliency in these testing times. As we enter a new season, I hope you are motivated and energized to best use the communications and leadership opportunities offered by your Toastmasters Club.
The District is proud of its membership base and strongly encourages everyone to spread the word to the family, friends, and coworkers. Let your Club Officers, Area Directors and Division Directors know of anything they could help with. District leadership team is standing by to support its members.
Thank you to all D27 Club members who have already renewed their membership. It is never too late to renew. Please contact your club treasurer today!
Have a Contingency Plan:
With so many District 27 clubs hosted or supported by government agencies, it is important for clubs to plan ahead for government shutdowns or any other disruptions. We encourage the following:
1. Gather non-government/corporate e-mails and phone numbers of the club members.
2. Renew memberships before October 1, and December 1.
3. Plan for alternative meeting venues - Libraries, restaurants, community centers, clubhouses, etc.
4. Take advantage of the Toastmasters Club Zoom Discount Code (50% off). Submit the attached request to [email protected]
6. Establish online/alternate payment methods e.g. PayPal, Cash Apps, Zelle, Venmo, etc.
With these precautions in place, we can seamlessly continue our Toastmasters journeys.
Members First; Mission Always!

WELCOME FALL!
Fall represents something different for each one of us. However, we can agree that Fall is a season of transformation! The changing colors of the leaves, suddenly bright then gradually, those beautiful leaves fall off and leave the trees bare. Yes, Fall is about change! Though each season may not be a season of growth, yet there is always a shift. How willing are we to open ourselves and allow what needs to fall away, shift, released, to take place, so we can rekindle the fire within? Release that which is halting our progress. Be willing to reconnect with what wets our appetitive! Remember the foundation of a thing (INSERT YOUR OWN WORD) is to help us understand why the thing is a thing and let the thing unfold.
We have completed the 1st quarter of the 2021-2022 Toastmaster year, and the results may not have been what we hoped for. The pandemic has been tough, we had losses and growth, and we accelerated our skills. Give yourself permission to change lanes, shift gears, take inventory and refine what needs to be refined.
A change may be within self, club, Area, Division, and/or District. A great start to this 2nd quarter would be to own whatever space we are in. It may be a space where we are dealing with the loss of a loved one, an illness, a shift in our family dynamics, career, job, academics, covid, loneliness, separation, depression, and/or health. Everything we need to move forward is already there, all we have to do is reach out!
Every moment, experience, circumstance, carries a message. Surrender everything that is paralyzing and embrace the beauty of Fall.
District 27 Toastmasters family, let us welcome the season of Fall together, and prepare for a bountiful harvest!
Jennifer Ferguson, DTM, District 27 Chaplain / Motivator
