Division Director of the Month
Herman Rayon Jr., DTM
Division B Director
Herman exemplifies outstanding leadership by successfully guiding the division through its inaugural round of club area visits, Division Council meetings, and maintaining regular connections with clubs.
On November 12, Herman organized a highly successful hybrid demonstration meeting for the SPA, drawing nearly fifty enthusiastic potential members.
Additionally, he provides invaluable training in public speaking and club officer roles, significantly contributing to the PQD Confident Voices series.
Herman's dedication and mentorship are crucial to the district's mission of growing new clubs and supporting existing ones in achieving excellence.
Characterized by tenacity, resilience, and a spirit of service, Herman never gives up.

Gwendolyn Sanderlin
Division A - Area 11
Gwen has consistently shown exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to the growth and success of Area 11 through her passionate engagement with members.
Since taking on the role, Gwen has effectively managed early challenges and continues to excel in supporting clubs. She works tirelessly to ensure Distinguished Club Program progress through her unwavering dedication to member development. She has completed 100% of her Area Director club visits and submitted all required reports promptly.
Furthermore, Gwen maintains open communication with club officers, provides timely support, and ensures that Area 11 operates smoothly and efficiently. Always ready to lend a helping hand, her leadership has been pivotal in fostering a positive, collaborative environment throughout Division A.

🎁 As we approach the holiday season, it’s time to take stock. 🎁
What achievements has District 27's Club Growth Team made over the past five months?
Building new Clubs:
- In November, we hosted two demonstration meetings: one in Waldorf, which was lightly attended, and another at Systems Planning and Evaluation, Inc. (SPA), with nearly fifty attendees. I anticipate a new chartered club at SPA by Christmas. We're still supporting prospective members in Waldorf.
- We're also actively pursuing four other leads and exploring additional opportunities. If your organization doesn't have a Toastmasters club, please contact us. We can help establish one at your workplace, and you'll be able to choose a $50 item from Toastmasters.
Supporting current Clubs:
- Shout-out to our six Club Coaches confirmed by Toastmasters International!
- Lillian Cooke is coaching PENTAF in Area 11
- Sara Sampson is coaching FAPAC in Area 21
- Maria Allsopp-Whittington is coaching Spirited Speakers in Area 22
- Sharon Alfred is coaching Bluemont Trail in Area 23
- Michelle Bracken is coaching Braddock Metro Toastmasters in Area 43
- Patricia Weng is coaching Chesapeake in Area 52
- Retention Chair Alonzo White and Club Coach Program Chair Robin Hylton support our clubs and coaches. Coaches receive tools, resources, and opportunities to network with other coaches.
- Some clubs are still seeking coaches, and some Toastmasters are looking for clubs that fit their schedules. To receive credit this year, coaches must serve for at least six months. Anyone interested in becoming a coach or any club seeking a coach must notify me by the first week of December to finalize appointments by December 31.
Dues Renewal:
Congratulations to our team for achieving the highest membership payment rate in Region 6! With 1,443 renewals, we're at 52% of our goal and have more than half the year ahead. However, ten clubs are not in good standing. If your club has fewer than eight members and isn't being coached, please contact the
Club Growth Director at cgd@d27-tm.org for support.

❄ As the holiday season approaches, I wish you and your family all the best. ❄
This time of year encourages us to reflect on our achievements and set new goals.
As PQD, the aim is for clubs to achieve 4 Educational Goals by December 31, 2024.

- Since the reopening of Pathways Base Camp on October 24, 2024,

41 members have achieved educational awards.

- 50 members to achieve the Triple Crown Award this year
- we are nearly halfway there with 23 members.
- 10 members to achieve their DTM Award,
- The first DTM was completed by Pamela Person of DTM Masters.
- All club officers to enroll in Pathways.

It's crucial for all officers to participate as they are now Base Camp Managers. The Pathways Enrollment team will contact those not yet enrolled to achieve 90% overall enrollment.

Club Officer Training continues in December with lunchtime sessions. Please plan to attend before the holiday. Although summer registration numbers were low, we aim for 100% officer training in the winter session. Last summer, 27 clubs had all seven officers trained; let's surpass this number.
Speech Contest Training is ongoing. Area and Division Directors, please attend. Remember, in-person humorous and International Speech contests will be held in the spring. Submit your contest dates and locations if you haven't already. All members are encouraged to attend training. Our Contest Chair Sonya Ponds and Chief Judge John Johnson Jr. are doing an excellent job.
The District Conference is scheduled for May 2-3, 2025. We need members to join the Conference Team. If you need an HPL or DTM project, email the PQD at pqd@d27-tm.org or the Conference Chair at conferencechair@d27-tm.org. We can use your skills in marketing, fundraising, video production, finance, etc.

Inspirational Message: Keeping The Peace

Tis The Season – Keeping Peace During the Holiday….
For many, the holiday season can be exciting, preparing to spend quality time with loved ones. For others, it can be triggering, stressful, and a constant reminder of the things they lack instead of focusing on the things right in front of them. We at Toastmasters encourage you not to allow this mindset to determine the outcome of your holiday season. Society can sometimes make us feel that we don't have enough. That we constantly have to strive for more and more. It causes us to be ungrateful and miss the little blessings and miracles right before us.
This holiday season, we encourage you to embrace the small things. Even just being alive is the greatest gift of all. You have the ability to breathe, walk, and have a roof over your head. All these things quickly seem to get overlooked by this "materialistic world." For those of you who may have even lost a loved one, we encourage you to stay encouraged. Use this time to love on those who are still here and find peace in what's in your life.
Remaining positive and constantly looking for the light even amid darkness can be a hard task. However, it is possible. Allow this holiday season to bring you joy. Not for the gifts, but for simply being alive. Embrace the good, accept what you cannot change, and keep pursuing the things you can. We at Toastmasters wish you a wonderful and peaceful holiday!
