Monthly News & Updates

January 2025 | Issue 22

District 3 Capital Projects: The Invitation to Bid for construction of new pickleball courts at Kip Jacoby Park closed this month. The City will now review the bids and construction will begin after a contractor is selected. The SE 6th Terrace bridge project is still under review by regulatory agencies, namely the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Once their approval is granted, the project will continue to move forward. Updates are provided on the city's website

McNab House Update: The City of Pompano Beach is unveiling an updated master plan for the McNab House and Botanical Gardens. This ambitious project represents a significant investment with a long-term timeline, and its financial plan currently requires extending the East CRA. To view the updated design, attend the CRA presentation on January 23 at 6:00 PM at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center

Commission Highlights

The Commission has been hard at work, asking important questions and passing key initiatives, including:

  • Initiating a Homeless Outreach Taskforce.
  • Approving the General City Employees Union Contract.
  • Passing three significant grants for BSO, including one that will fund our Community Court program this year.
  • Planning two upcoming workshops on critical topics: 1) Parking and 2) Overlay Districts.
  • It has been one year since the Commission passed an ordinance expanding the City Manager's purchasing authority. The Commission is actively evaluating how this has influenced where and how your money has been spent this year.
  • Don't forget to join us for the MLK day parade on Monday, January 20!
