Discussing Climate Concerns: Broward County's Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Jurado is coming to Pompano Beach to present about climate drivers influencing the future. The presentation will provide a county-wide flood risk reduction strategy and planning scenarios. The presentation will incorporate information specific to the City of Pompano Beach. Join us on December 2nd at 5:30 p.m. for this important conversation.

Community Connection: District 3 is instituting a new community connection tool to help match local needs with available resources within District 3 and the greater Pompano Beach community. Please take a moment to fill out this form to be included in future messages about community needs. #district3communityconnections

Help Improve our Parks: The City of Pompano Beach is creating a master plan for the Parks & Recreation Department to ensure our parks meet today's expectations and the future needs of our residents. Join our District 3 public input meeting December 9th at 6 p.m. at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center

Commission Highlights

  • On November 12th, the city called a Special Joint Meeting of the City Commission & CRA to push an important term sheet through a lame-duck commission. The term sheet committed taxpayers to significant future financial obligations. It passed 4-2. I voted No.
  • On November 19th, the newly elected commission was installed. In addition to being your District 3 City Commissioner, I am honored to have been selected as the Vice Mayor of Pompano Beach.
  • With respect to the Pompano Beach charter amendments on the ballot, the 1st amendment passed, making it easier to transfer land between government entities. Amendments 2 & 3 failed.
  • The Ft. Lauderdale water taxi is officially coming to Pompano Beach. Service starts December 16th.
  • In November, the Planning & Zoning board unanimously passed a text amendment related to the height and location of Gazebos/Tikis/Chickees and the required Rear Yard Corner Triangle. This item will be voted on by the City Commission in the coming months.
