Monthly News & Updates

September 2024 | Issue 18

Infrastructure Strengthening: To create a durable storm-ready power grid, Florida Power & Light is replacing old wooden power poles with new concrete poles. Currently,18 poles will be replaced in Garden Isles at SE 5th Ct from SE 6th Terrace to S. Cypress Rd. Please note this will impact traffic over the next 2 months. I’ll continue to update you as more areas are upgraded. In addition, TECO energy is installing a new gas main through Old Pompano along NE 6th St. and NE 4th St. that will require our roadways and sidewalks to be restored.

District 3 Parks: Improvements continue to be made across our park system. This includes modifications to the soccer fields for hosting tournaments at the Youth Sports Complex. Work is scheduled to be completed by November. It also includes a second batting cage at Kester Park, and new exercise equipment in Sgt. Kip Jacoby park to be installed in the next few months. Pickleball courts are also coming to Sgt. Kip Jacoby park once permitting is approved.

SE 6th Terrace Bridge: Engineers are currently addressing comments on the design of the new bridge. Plans are expected to be completed later this month, at which time the Building Department will review the project for permitting and a contractor will be solicited.
