Get Vaccinated for COVID-19 From Home

Yolo County Public Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson is warning that COVID-19 wastewater levels in Davis are the highest they have ever been, indicating an upcoming surge of COVID-19 in our community. It remains as important as ever to get the latest bivalent booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Yolo County is making it easier than ever to make sure you stay up to date with your COVID vaccines with the Doorvax in-home vaccination program. With this program, Yolo County residents can call to schedule a vaccination appointment without having to leave the comfort of their own home.

Appointments are completely free of charge and residents can choose either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. It is available to all persons aged 5 or older and appointments can be made by calling (530) 902-3230 for English or (530) 312-4139 para Español.

The COVID-19 Vaccines remain effective at limiting transmission of many COVID variants and at significantly reducing severity of all COVID variants. You can also find more details about the COVID-19 vaccine or getting vaccinated at myturn.ca.gov.

2023 Brings Exciting Opportunities

As we enter 2023, District 4 is excited for the completion of projects that have seen years of cumulative effort, as well as the new opportunities that will come before Davis and Yolo County in the coming year.

One of the largest projects that 2023 will see come to fruition is the Paul's Place multi-functional supportive and transitional housing facility opening on H Street in Davis. Keen followers of the District 4 newsletter will be familiar with the project which will officially open in early February. The four-story building will include a day-use resource center, emergency shelter beds, and a mix of transitional and permanent supportive housing units. Homelessness is an unnecessary flaw in our society and Paul's Place gets us closer to the goal of ending it by providing essential support and services to at-risk members of our community and additional places to call home.

Another project that address a long term and important community need this coming year is the South Davis Library and Education Center project planned for Walnut Park. Discussions around the possibility of constructing a library in South Davis have taken place for many years, however funding has remained elusive. With the County being offered a grant of almost $9 million towards the construction of the library, the future looks promising for this vital community investment.

An additional Davis project that will make major strides in 2023 is the Mace Blvd Redesign project. The 100% plans have been received by both City and County staff and an expected construction start date has been set in June. The advancement of the Mace Blvd Redesign represents years of work by Supervisor Provenza, City and County staff, and community leaders. The groundbreaking on this project will represent a major step forward towards resolving a traffic crisis commonly referred to as the "Mace mess."

These 3 projects represent only the beginning of the advancements 2023 will bring to District 4. We remain as committed as ever to seeking out, and taking suggestions for, opportunities which will improve and strengthen our community.
