Dear Neighbor,

Happy New Year!

On Tuesday, January 21st my colleagues and I have our Prioritization Workshop. My priorities among many for Fort Lauderdale are to improve stormwater resiliency, expand affordable housing, and protect our city's waterways. Fortify Lauderdale is conducting their final rounds of public outreach meetings this month, then all Tranche 2 neighborhoods will enter the bid and award phase. Fortify Lauderdale's website shares a newsletter monthly with progress updates.

This past month, I have working closely with businesses, non-profits, and faith leaders to collaborate on solutions for addressing homelessness. Homelessness is a multi-faceted problem. Our entire community must be included in order to make monumental improvements, and I am committed to being a part of this change.

My office has also been focused on protecting our waterways. Last week, I visited the Marine Advisory Board to get caught up on their 2025 priorities. Exploring grey water regulations and water quality testing is a must in order for the City to remain proactive. I also visited the Prospect Lake Water Treatment Center construction site. The center will be working at full capacity in September 2026!

Meaningful work is always the best work to do, and I am excited about the great strides we will make in the upcoming months.
