DISTRICT 6 JANUARY UPDATE
Happy New Year District 6! December had a lot of exciting news for Anaheim, personally I had an excellent time celebrating Christmas and New Years -
I hope you did as well.
2021 Year in Review
2021 brought plenty of unique challenges to our city. But with these challenges came amazing opportunities to build Anaheim better than it was before and help our community in a time of need. Here's a short video of the work I've done on the city council and I hope we are able to achieve even greater things in 2022.

Anaheim City Council Redistricting
Every 10 years, local governments use new census data to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. Pursuant to California Law, cities and counties engage communities in the redistricting process by holding public hearings and/or workshops and doing public outreach. Districts must be redrawn every 10 years, so that each district is substantially equal in population. This process is important in ensuring that each city councilmember and district represents about the same number of constituents.

The Anaheim City Council is currently considering maps for adoption that were submitted by members of the public and maps produced by our demographer. Visit www.anaheimredistricting.org to view and comment on any of the proposed maps. The deadline for the Council to adopt a new map is April 17, 2022.  Thankfully, for District 6, we're not expecting many changes if any. At most we will be welcoming a small number of people from neighborhoods just west of Anaheim Hills to our amazing district.
SoCal Builder Article on the Greenprint Initiative
This month I was featured in the Building Industry Association of Southern California's magazine talking about the proposed SoCal Greenprint initiative. For the last several months, I have been leading the regional efforts to redirect Greenprint from an activist-driven impediment to development into something cities and builders can actually use to prioritize development where most appropriate.

An excerpt from the article: "BIASC's strongest ally in stopping the Greenprint process so it can be more thoroughly and openly evaluated is the Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG), with Councilmember Trevor O'Neil, Anaheim's representative on the SCAG Regional Council, leading the charge."
Anaheim Beautiful Holiday Lights Contest
This year we had an amazing turnout for the Holiday Lights Contest put on by Anaheim Beautiful. Over the past several years, participation has grown by leaps and bounds and the displays are better than ever before.Congratulations to awardees for this season and I'm looking forward to congratulating each of them in person at our next City Council meeting. We are so happy to see so many houses full of holiday cheer along our City’s streets and we look forward to another bright and joyous season in 2022.
Miss Anaheim Scholarship 2022
After a year off, I've had the honor of joining with the Executive Directors of the Miss Anaheim Scholarship, Sharon and Dr. Partick Cordes, as we officially reinstate the competition. This is just one step of our city moving back to a place of normality as we move forward after the interruptions brought on by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

I am happy to join with the organizers of this event to support the young women of our city as they "enhance their communication and leadership skills while offering valuable scholarships."
