No School On Tuesday, November 8th

In observance of Election Day there is no school on Tuesday, November 8th.

Congratulations To Our All-Stars!

Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 will be well represented at the 2022 Illinois Music Educators Association Festival, sponsored by the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA). 11 students, five from Emerson and six from Lincoln, were selected to participate in the prestigious event.

More than 1,000 of the finest band and orchestra students from more than 50 junior high schools in the North Suburban area auditioned for a position in these all-star groups. Students spent months preparing their virtual auditions for submission.

District 64 students selected to participate in the festival include:

  • Emerson – Eliza Chasak, violin; Isabella Roszko, violin; Paxton Miller, trombone; Jasmyn Knipping, jazz tenor saxophone; Will Seiter, jazz trumpet.
  • Lincoln – Anderson Burkum, euphonium; Thomas Dickinson, trombone; Rose Hassman, viola; Reed Maurer, bassoon and jazz saxophone; Hannah Seol, viola; Luke Steffens, clarinet.

You can read more about this honor on our website.

District Office Pumpkin Carving Competition

We had our first District Office pumpkin carving competition, which featured every department coming up with their own creative way to decorate a pumpkin...or multiple.

The departments were competing against each other, and we had to impress the judges. Our friends at the Jefferson Early Childhood Center helped us out by putting tokens in a bucket in front of their favorite pumpkins!

The competition was fierce, and the judging was terrific. It was a great start to what will be an annual event.

Between parades, parties, and trick-or-treating we had so much fun on Halloween. Below are some of the highlights from what I was able to catch!

Last week, I shared some pictures from Carpenter's Fall Fest but here's the video that I promised!

Collaborating In Song

The Lincoln and Emerson 8th grade choir students had a great time collaborating with the Maine South choir students and choir director, Matthew Hanes.

The students sight-read music, sang along, performed for, and watched performances of the Chamber Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

What a fun experience! Thank you to Mrs. Broeker, Emerson's choir director, and Ms. LaTragna, Lincoln's choir director for the pictures.
