No School On Monday

All District 64 schools and offices are closed on Monday, February 20th, in observance of Presidents' Day. We'll see everyone back on Tuesday!

Brave The Shave

Here are some of the creative ways our students and staff are raising money for St. Baldrick's.

At Emerson Middle School, Mr. Teater is dying his hair in either orange, green, purple, or white, and students get to donate to which one it will be! He even gave us a little preview of what it looked like the last time.

At Lincoln Middle School, they created a song. Yes, an original song!

To make a donation and get the FULL song, you can follow this link. Under the direction of Alyssa LaTragna, the 7th and 8th-grade choir students at Lincoln recorded "Brave the Shave", an original composition by teacher James McDunn.

The big head-shaving events are on March 8th, and both middle schools still need barbers/hair stylists to help! If you're interested, please click here for contact info.

Invitation To Share Input On Supt. Search

The Board of Education of Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 is inviting all members of the District 64 community to participate in the search process for a new school superintendent, either in person at a public forum on Tuesday, February 21st, or by completing an online survey.

The Board has launched a national search for a new superintendent and is working with BWP & Associates to facilitate the pursuit. BWP has conducted hundreds of superintendent searches throughout the area.

An important part of a superintendent search is obtaining information from staff and the community. There are two ways that the District and our partner BWP will ask for your input.

The first is through an online survey starting on February 20th and running through February 28th. When the survey is made active, it will be available on the District 64 website.

The second opportunity for input will be an in-person meeting with representatives of BWP. All community members are invited to this meeting on Tuesday, February 21st, from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm in the Hendee Rooms at the Jefferson Early Childhood Center, 8200 Greendale Ave. Niles, IL. BWP will also separately meet with staff, administrators, and school board candidates to gather information.

Your input and perspectives are valuable. Please help us by participating in the survey and attending the meeting on February 21st.

Global Connections

Lincoln seventh graders are learning about the holiday Carnival while practicing speaking Spanish with their Spanish “video pals.”

Ms. Levitt and Mrs. Powell connected with an English Academy in the southwest of Spain. Lincoln students have the opportunity to practice their Spanish while the students in Spain practice their English with us.

Through the use of the Flipgrid platform, our students are able to exchange videos in a shared space with our classroom and their classroom.

Around District 64

The Jefferson Early Childhood Center staff rolled up their sleeves and went to work before school this week, making sandwiches for Uncle Pete's outreach.

Boxes and boxes were filled with food that will be given to those in need of a meal.

It was a great morning filled with laughter and a determination to help others.

Thank you to our Jefferson Team!

Students put on terrific performances in the District 64 band solo/ensemble recital Thursday night at Lincoln.

Students performed solos or in small groups to receive feedback from judges. This is a non-competitive event and is an excellent opportunity for the students to sharpen their skills which helps them as well as their bands!

Here are some photos from the recital!

Age Appropriate Placement

It is District 64’s practice to place students age-appropriately at each grade level upon enrollment. If you have a preschooler at home, please keep the following in mind regarding enrollment in District 64 for the 2023-24 school year:

Students who will turn six before June 1, 2023, will be placed age-appropriately in first grade upon registration, regardless of prior enrollment in kindergarten.

Students who turn six after June 1, 2023, and are not currently enrolled in District 64 may elect to enter kindergarten or first grade for the 2023-24 school year.

The District has adopted a policy for accelerated placement and early entrance procedures. In these cases, a student may be placed at a higher grade level. More information about this may be found on the District 64 website.
