Traveling The World

Have you ever traveled the world? What about 14 countries in one night? Well, that's what Franklin families were able to do on Thursday at their International Night!

Brazil, Costa Rica, Denmark, Greece, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Serbia, and Sri Lanka were all represented for a night of food, fun, and learning about other cultures.

There were also dances, performances, and other awesome activities for families. The tables and posters were fantastic. Thank you to all who participated.

Spelling B-E-E

Our Spelling Bees are underway at each school, and as someone who is constantly in need of a dictionary, I've been so impressed! My favorite word I've heard so far? C-H-I-C-A-G-O. The top three spellers from each school move on to the District 64 Spelling Bee on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Award-Winning Filmmakers

We have a pair of accomplished filmmakers here in District 64. Congratulations to Field 5th graders Julien and Jameson for winning the Elementary Grand Prize in the Google Chicagoland Film Fest. Their stop-motion "Worlds" impressed the judges.

I sat down with Julien and Jameson for a fun interview on what went into making their film. While the video and a longer story will be out early next week, I wanted to give a quick shoutout to them and Mrs. Ross for their excellent work! Way to represent Field and D64.
