Veterans Day In District 64

On Veterans Day, we thank and recognize all those who served honorably to defend our nation and freedom. We had some very special guests stop by Roosevelt Elementary School, on Thursday, to share some of their experiences!

The Veterans Day assembly is a Roosevelt tradition that has been going on for more than two decades. Thank you to all of our nation's Veterans and to those in our community who spent some time talking with our students.

You can find a photo gallery of the assembly and class visits here. Don't forget to watch the video below!

Q&A Between Field Students And Veterans

Students at Field Elementary School got an awesome opportunity to talk with the Walter brothers on Veterans Day. One is in the Air Force and the other is an Air Force Veteran! It was made possible by Field teacher Ms. Walter...who is the sister of our guests today! Smiles all around.

Field Principal Dr. Goodman also shared with us this tribute to Veterans, which is on display in their main office.

The last day to make a donation is Sunday, November 20th. As the deadline nears, you can make a donation at www.kiwanisPR.org or directly to Kiwanis Holiday Food Basket Fundraiser at 19 N. Seminary, Park Ridge, IL, 60068.

WRITTEN IN CRAYON

We are so proud of the creative minds in District 64! Last week, the Maine South Drama III/IV students performed "WRITTEN IN CRAYON", which featured stories written by D64 students. Maine South teacher and theater director, Mrs. Saurer wrote, "The stories were exceptionally inventive, engaging, and entertaining. To each student that shared their creativity with us, thank you!"

A fantastic collaboration between D64 writers and the Maine South Fine Arts Department! Five out of five stars- signed by me, Chris Lilly.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this a successful show!

John R. (pictured above) is one of 30 D64 students who had their story picked and performed at "WRITTEN IN CRAYON".
