2022-2023 School Year Begins

The 2022-2023 school year began this week for students all across District 64! The sidewalks were re-energized with eager students waiting to take on the new year.

It was great seeing all the families around our schools again.

If you're new to the district or to this newsletter, welcome to our weekly eNews. In addition to being a great resource for all things District 64, I hope you enjoy all the pictures, videos, and stories we're working on.

Full-Day Kindergarten begins in D64!

The first day of school also meant the inaugural class of Full-Day Kindergarten at District 64.

It was a busy summer, as we built five new additions to the elementary schools but things look awesome and the kids are already hard at work!

The Jefferson Early Childhood Center also welcomed back students to a beautifully renovated space.

Who loves a little bit of history? 🙋

Well here's some District 64 history for you.

Sanford E. Merrill School was closed in 1982 but read our feature story on how Roosevelt Principal Dr. Kevin Dwyer is helping preserve the memory of the building and the students who once went there.

Superintendent Dr. Eric Olson gave the crowd of staff members a laugh at Institute Day this week. Mid-presentation he walked out in a Darth Vader costume!
