The Program Quality Director Says...
Contest season is here!
Clubs – remember to send your Notification of Winners form to your Area Director. It must be filled in with the ranking and information for all contestants, not just the winner. If your 1st place winner can’t attend the Area contest, the 2nd place winner moves up.
Club Officer Training is fun and informative. Our trainers have received lots of positive feedback! Have your club officers attended phase 2 training yet? The time period is Dec 1 to Feb 29. Not sure? Check the dashboard to see whether your club has had the required 4 officers attend. Check here, scroll down to find your club or login to Club central:
Reach out to me for additional training options if you’ve missed our 3 training dates.
Are you registered yet? Our District conference is fast approaching. We’ll be in person for the first time since 2019! The 2023 World Champion of Public Speaking Jocelyn Tyson will be our special guest – if you didn’t get to the International convention, if you haven’t seen her speak, you won’t want to miss this.
We also have workshops, contest finals, and food! Look on our website, our Facebook page, or check your email for a link to the registration. Great idea - some clubs are carpooling. Road trip! See you in Rochester April 27.

Speechcraft Incentive
Speechcraft is an abbreviated Toastmasters experience, like a mini college course on speaking. It is designed for non-members, run by experienced club members. It can be 4, 6, or 8 weeks long. Speechcraft is also an excellent membership building tool.
Our District team would be happy to help you get you started! We’re offering free Speechcraft ($50.00 value) to all District 65 clubs that run a Speechcraft between October 2023 to May 2024.

Dear Patty,
I am the VPE of my club and am concerned that some of our members are not progressing in the Pathways program. Most have signed up, but several have not reached Level 1 after a few years. How can I motivate my members to participate more actively in Pathways?

Dear Concerned VPE,
You are not alone. I admire your desire to make your club Distinguished or higher in the Distinguished Club Program. What...that wasn't your question? True, you did not ask how to earn education credit, but that is the side effect of completing levels in Pathways. Your members’ successes are your club successes and guarantees the club’s existence.
You have a golden opportunity with the roll out of the new Learning Management System (LMS). Toastmasters International has sent emails encouraging the members to verify that Base Camp credit agrees with Club Central. You could offer to go over their credentials with them to verify and make sure they get the credit they have earned. As you talk with your member that does not have a Level 1 completed, ask them about a recent speech completed that could have counted for Writing a Speech with Purpose? If they have given speeches showing they responded to the advice of an earlier evaluator, that would fit as the second part of the Evaluation and Feedback project. It may take time, but I believe the effort would be rewarding for you, the member who hasn't recorded projects and your club.
In addition, your District 65 Pathways Committee offers training sessions to encourage members to participate in their education program. They are now holding forums at these training sessions for all members to share questions and concerns. They plan to bring ideas and suggestions to Toastmasters International to hopefully strengthen future releases and make our members excited about their journey.
Please encourage your members to participate in these forums or email us at D65Pathways@gmail.com. Let's get every one of our members eager to participate in Toastmasters International's Pathway program.
Best of Success,
Patty
P.S. Please send any questions concerning your Pathways journey to D65Pathways@gmail.com. Maybe we will select your question to publish next time in the D65 Newsletter.
