To keep you informed, we will be sending you the District 67 Board Report on a monthly basis.  Please note: These are not the official minutes of the Board of Education. Minutes, once approved, board agendas, packets, and videos can be found here
Board President's Report
Mike Borkowski announced his 2017 District 67 Top 10 Gratitude List. Included in the list he recognized his fellow board members, Superintendent Mike Simeck, the District Vision, the District 67 administration, teachers, staff, and students, his family, the school community and the district’s financial resources. He encourage everyone to make their own Gratitude List and share it with the Board or Tweet it out using #findingjoy67. Mike wished everyone a safe and fun holiday season.  
Superintendent’s Report
Mike showed a video that highlighted the District’s Mission, Vision, and Milestones, with a focus on the Instruction Milestone. The video highlighted students involved in inquiry units. He commented that meaningful instruction is personalized and leverages students’ natural curiosity.

Mike discussed the How To Raise an Adult author presentation and reported that over 340 people attended. He thanked LEAD for their partnership and noted the presentation was taped and will be rebroadcast in the future.

Mike reported that NSSED is in the process of defining its Mission, Vision, and Goals with the new NSSED Superintendent and community representatives. He commended the staff and Board for their work, noting his belief that they are headed in the right direction.
Assessment Report
Susan Milsk, Director of Teaching and Learning, presented an overview and findings in relation to student academic attainment and growth data. Susan noted some inferences derived from the data include: Curricular alignment to standards is beginning to transfer to student achievement, and continued analysis of strengths and areas of improvements are necessary for continued improvement.
Gallup Report
Ingrid Wiemer, Executive Director of Student Services, discussed the four areas (Engagement, Hope, Entrepreneurial Aspiration and Career/Financial Literacy) measured by the Gallup Poll that was administered to our 5th and 7th grade students this fall. Board members expressed concerns regarding the relevance of Entrepreneurial Aspiration and Career/Financial Literacy indicators for middle school students.
Education Committee
Jeff Folker reported the committee reviewed the draft of the Assessment Report with Susan Milsk. The committee provided input and feedback. The final report is on the Board’s December agenda.
North Suburban Special Education District (NSSED)
Suzanne Sands reported that the Vision, Mission, Beliefs, Statement of Purpose, and status of the goal development process were recently shared with stakeholders. The strategic plan is scheduled for initial Leadership Council review in January. The Leadership Council continued its professional development focusing on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Accountability Framework. Suzanne will be attending the TASH (an international leader in disability advocacy) Conference in December.
