March 2020
Dear District 67 Community Member,
To keep you informed, we will be sending you the District 67 Board Report on a monthly basis.  Please note: These are not the official minutes of the Board of Education. Minutes once approved, all board agendas, packets, and videos can be found here.
Due to COVID-19 developments in Illinois, Governor Pritzker issued an Executive Order to suspend physical presence requirements under the Open Meetings Act (OMA) to all public bodies across the state. Therefore, the Tuesday, March 17 Lake Forest District 67 Board of Education Meeting was held virtually via a video conference call.

Mike noted that he had served on the Board for seven years, the last five as Board President and thanked his fellow Board members, the Administrative Team, teachers, staff, parents, students, and his family. Mike highlighted the District’s progress regarding the Mission and Vision, and the importance of the three Core Values: Student Centric Governance, Fiscal Responsibility, and Vision Centric Leadership. Mike noted that we have a rare opportunity for success due to the District’s commitment to the Vision, and the Board’s vigilance. Mike concluded his remarks by stating that it had been an honor and privilege to serve on the Board. View written report

Superintendent’s Report
Mike Simeck thanked Mike Borkowski for his service and commented that it is difficult to overstate the impact that Mr. Borkowski had on the school district. Mike noted that Mr. Borkowski set the direction for the organization, collaboratively, inspirationally, and purposefully. During his tenure as Board President, Mr. Borkowski pushed us all to get better, while allowing the school teams to determine the “how.” Mike noted the progress under Mr. Borkowski’s leadership in co-teaching, and the reimagining of so many of our learning spaces (Haskins, classrooms, science labs, etc.) designed to support teaching and learning. Mike commented that Mr. Borkowski is someone who has high expectations and cares very deeply. Mr. Borkowski is also a remarkably dedicated dad and husband, and a teacher at heart. Finally, Mr. Borkowski has been an absolutely dedicated and committed public servant who represents the ambitions of our democracy - honest, frugal, prudent, visionary, and inclusive. Mr. Borkowski has made a real difference in the community.

MIke Simeck, Director of Teaching and Learning Jeff McHugh and Director of Innovation Renee Fitzsimmons presented an overview of the District’s e-Learning plan.  View video for complete report
