Superintendent's Report
Mike Simeck gave an update on summer capital improvement projects. Ceiling tile removal and replacement, and lighting work is in progress at Sheridan, Cherokee, and Everett Schools. At Deer Path Middle School, the removal of ceiling tile has begun and work on boilers, air handling units, and electrical panels is in progress. The old playground at Cherokee has been removed and earthwork will begin soon.  View video
Issuance Tax Compliance Report
Finance and Operations Committee
Tom Ford reported that the Committee reviewed the 2018-19 budget and looked at new formats on how best to present the budget both internally and to the public. They also briefly reviewed a new format staff is considering for showing the District’s financial model and approved the renewal of the District’s banking relationship with Lake Forest Bank and Trust. North Suburban Special Education District (NSSED )
Suzanne Sands noted that she did not attend the last meeting but shared the meeting notes with the Board. View written report
Legislative Liaison
Tom Ford stated that Public Law 100-587 was enacted on June 4 to reduce the 6% retirement cap for TRS members to 3%. Districts would be responsible for anything over the 3% cap. Tom noted that there is still information needed to clarify this change.
