To keep you informed, we will be sending you the District 67 Board Report on a monthly basis. Please note: These are not the official minutes of the Board of Education. Minutes once approved, all board agendas, packets, and videos can be found here.
President's Report
Mike Borkowski presented a Board Goal update highlighting the Board’s core values: student centric governance, fiscal responsibility, and vision centric leadership. The Board Goals include: establishing a board learning goal, increasing community engagement, reviewing the Mission/Vision/ Milestones, defining and implementing a District Dashboard, and developing and aligning shared service processes, starting with the Superintendent renewal process. Mike noted efforts to transform learning in District 67, including new math and language arts curricula, differentiation in the classroom, the inquiry delivery model, updating facilities, social emotional learning, the new report card, and professional development. He concluded his remarks by stating that the Boards had approved Mike Simeck’s contract until 2022 and thanking Mike for being a “transformational leader.” View video 
Superintendent's Report
Mike Simeck discussed some of the changes in the District that are taking place in light of the reimagined classrooms. He noted that new classroom configurations and environment are having a positive impact on teaching and learning. View video 
Finance and Operations Committee
Tom Ford announced that the Committee reviewed the 2018-19 budget and discussed forecasting variables that could factor into the five-year budget projection. The Committee also overviewed the new financial reporting model and debt refunding options.     View written report   View video
North Suburban Special Education District (NSSED )
Suzanne Sands reported that the Leadership Council participated in BoardDocs training and beginning in October meeting materials will be available online. She noted that NSSED is looking at new software to integrate with its current software. The goal is to provide more independent, flexible access to data across the organization.     View written report   View video
Spirit of 67 Foundation
Suzanne Sands announced the Foundation’s Thanks For Giving Luncheon will take place October 19, 11-2:30pm at the Knollwood Club. All parents are encouraged to attend. The Raise Your Hand for Education Online Auction will be held October 16-19. Suzanne reported that the Foundation has raised $94,000 as of August. Family participation is at 42%. The Spirit will once again sponsor the “cross town competition.” The school that has the highest participation will receive an all school party and any school that reaches 80% participation will receive a $1,000 grant from the Founders’ Fund. Association of Parents & Teachers (APT)
Jeff Folker reported that the APT theme for this year is “grit.” He commented that all schools are off to a great start and the APT websites have all been updated. Jeff also thanked Katie Frekko for navigating a variety of challenges with the school supply provider this year. The APT and District are looking into options for next year.
