The last day of school before winter break is this Friday, December 22, and schools reopen on January 8, 2018. We wish all of our families a happy and safe break. Our students have been working very hard since the beginning of the school year and I'm sure they are looking forward to being home to enjoy the holidays. Thank you to our families, staff and school communities for the support this school year. District 41 is thankful for the amount of parent involvement in our schools and the support we receive from community members and our community partner organizations. It takes all of us coming together to support student learning. I sincerely appreciate your dedication and interest in our school district.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year!

2018/19 School Calendar - Proposed Changes Due to Construction Schedule
The calendar for next school year is in the process of being developed. The calendar will look somewhat different next year as we are adjusting to the referendum construction schedule including the construction of a new secure entryway at Churchill School and the building addition at Hadley Junior High School.

The calendar committee is proposing starting a week later on August 29 with the tentative last day of school on June 6. Also, the District will use national holidays for Institute Days. The Tuesday after Columbus Day will no longer be used as an Institute Day. It will be a school attendance day. These adjustments are temporary only due to construction and the need for extra time to complete the projects during the summer months.

Click here for the PROPOSED calendar. The Board of Education will vote to approve the calendar in January.

5th Grade Orchestra Performs Winter Concert
The District 41 5th Grade Orchestra students from Abraham Lincoln, Ben Franklin, Churchill, and Forest Glen schools performed together for their Winter Concert on December 14. "What fun it was to see all the bows moving together and the huge smiles on the students' faces!" said Orchestra Director Rita Feuerborn. Watch the concert here.
Congratulations on an outstanding performance!

Hadley Chorus is Creating Connections
The Hadley Junior High Chorus is now live streaming their performances to provide real time access for those who may not be able to attend shows. According to Hadley Vocal & General Music teacher Paul Marchese, the most recent concert was viewed live by families of students in the United States as well as Bulgaria, Denmark, India, Japan, and Singapore! To watch concert streams live or to view previous Hadley Chorus performances Click Here. Thank you to all of our viewers worldwide!
