Tune in to watch our graduations live on FB with Folsom TV
The Folsom Cordova Unified School District is partnering with Folsom TV to provide our first-ever live stream of high school graduations: Cordova, Folsom, and Vista del Lago! Our hope is that this service will allow distant relatives, friends, and other loved ones to take part in the celebration, even if they can't physically attend.
To watch, follow Folsom TV on Facebook, then tune in at the following times:
  • Folsom High: 7 p.m. May 31
  • Cordova High: 6 p.m. June 1
  • Vista del Lago High: 6 p.m. June 1
Note: While we don't expect technical difficulties, this is a new effort for us; we can't guarantee that we won't encounter issues that could interrupt or stop the broadcast at any time. If that occurs, we will start a new stream if possible OR upload a recording of the entire ceremony at the end of the program, which can be viewed on demand.
PHOTOS: Homeschool charter students celebrate milestones
As Folsom Cordova schools kicked off a weeks' worth of graduations and promotions, 25 students in the district's unique homeschool charter program gathered with loved ones and their teachers to celebrate their growth and accomplishments.
The eighth-graders and their families shared numerous testimonials about how the Folsom Cordova Community Charter School - a TK-8 program that allows parents to choose homeschool while getting regular support from veteran District teachers - helped families reach their goals. The program is housed on a sprawling campus that offers weekly workshops designed to personalize learning.
Some chose the homeschool program because they sought an alternative to middle school. Others had talents or interests families desired to nurture on a nontraditional schedule. Regardless of the reason, families lined up to share their success stories and express gratitude for the unique bonds built with the program's staff, through regular workshops and activities designed to personalize learning.

National History Day is a year-long educational program that encourages students to explore local, State, National, and World History. After selecting a historical topic that relates to the 2018 theme of Conflict and Compromise, students, along with their site coach, conduct an extensive research by using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews. They analyze and interpret their findings, draw conclusions regarding their topics' significance in history, and create final projects that represent their work.
