District E Food Banks and Meal Distribution Sites Week of July 27– July 31, 2020

Councilwoman Nguyen would like to make residents aware of the food pantries and meal distribution sites this week in District E.
|
|
|
Many of these sites would not run without volunteers. If you have not been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 in at least two weeks and are not showing any symptoms, please consider volunteering to help feed District E residents in need.

Sankofa Community Development Corporation
- 5200 Dauphine St, New Orleans, LA 70117
- Monday, July 27, through Wednesday July 29, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Volunteers needed Monday – Wednesday 9 AM to 2 PM

Food Pantry
in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank.
Food distributed are heart-healthy staple items (produce, dairy, protein, whole grains) and follows guidelines from American Heart Association. Walk up only.
ID Required, option to register for food monthly.
Pick up Monday - Wednesday 10 AM to 2 PM (Walk-up service, not a drive-thru).

(Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Dinner) sourced by Healthy Schools Food Collaborative and Revolution Foods.
Pickup Mondays (for Monday and Tuesday meals) and Wednesday (for Wednesday- Friday meals) 10 AM to 2 PM

Commodity Food Boxes for Seniors Aged 60 and Older
sourced by Catholic Charities.
Delivery to certain areas of the City, pick up at 5200 Dauphine St by appointment.
Call 504-872-9214 to pick up an application to join the program.

Sankofa CDC is working in partnership with the A Community Voice, Lower Ninth Ward Voters Coalition, Lower Ninth Ward Neighborhood Association, Lower Nine Senior Citizens Center, Villa St. Maurice, Level Up Campaign, NENA, and City Council District E for its community food distribution services.

#ChefsForAmerica Meal Distribution Lower Ninth Ward
This program is sponsored by World Central Kitchen and in partnership with local chefs and restaurants.
Through the #ChefsForAmerica Program, all of the meals distributed at these sites will come from local restaurants participating in the program. We would like to thank the following restaurants who are ensuring that those in need of meals get both nutritious and tasty food during this time:

Distribution of these meals will be at the following locations in the Lower Ninth Ward:

- 5234 N. Claiborne Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117
- Tuesday July 28, and Friday, July 31, starting at 10:00 AM
- 2,000 meals in partnership with World Kitchen and Revolution Foods, and the Holy Cross Neighborhood Association.
- Individuals will receive 3 plates on Tuesday, and 4 on Friday.
Volunteers needed Tuesday and Friday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Meal Delivery will also be provided to the following Senior Living Facilities in District E:
- Villa St. Maurice (Lower Ninth Ward)
