LCS Aces Ohio Report Card

Tarhe Trails Achieves 5-Stars

The State of Ohio recently released its yearly school report cards for the 2022/2023 school year to evaluate how school districts have been performing. Report cards graded districts on five different criteria: achievement, progress, early literacy, gap closing, and graduation. These criteria are graded on a five-point scale.

Lancaster City Schools achieved an overall score of four stars with many five-star scores awarded. Tarhe Trails Elementary received a five-star grade, the highest obtainable score.

"This is excellent news and also an improvement over where we were a few years ago," said Superintendent Hale. "Tarhe Trails Elementary has really made the district proud this year, along with the high ratings we received as a district overall."

LCS received four stars in the progress and gap-closing categories. The district also received three-star ratings in achievement, graduation, and early literacy.

"This is absolutely a team achievement resulting from a team effort," said Tarhe Trails Principal Jake Campbell. "I could not be more proud of our results."

What's Happening in Our Schools

Medill Elementary

Second-grade students at Medill celebrated International Dot Day. Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration inspired by Peter Reynolds’ book The Dot. Each student decorated his/her own dot to display in our main hallway.

Gorsuch West Elementary

We were honored to welcome Fairfield Homes, Inc. to our campus to thank them for their annual support. Our MasterBuilders of the Month Program would not be possible without them. This program recognizes students who show the building blocks of great character.

We love involving families in our curriculum and we were lucky to do just that when some grandparents volunteered to read to our students recently!

Tallmadge Elementary

Tallmadge Elementary students have been learning about being respectful, responsible, and being safe. Students are learning these skills in Second Step lessons every day. Recently, students were able to practice these skills during bus safety drills.

Mt. Pleasant Elementary

Mrs. Hatfield’s class is working hard to explain math strategies to their 3rd-grade partners. Research has shown peer tutoring can also positively affect social relationships.

Amazing work by Mr. Knickerbocker's Woodshop class! They created keepsake boxes as their latest project! Keep up the great work!

Thomas Ewing Junior High

There were 42 students at the first Kiwanis Builders Club meeting this month. The students enjoyed painting rocks as a way to spread kindness. They added their own message of inspiration or positivity. The students plan to take their rocks into the community for another person in the community to enjoy.
