NEW OPTION TO RECYCLE GLASS
The Solid Waste Department has entered into a new agreement with Strategic Materials, Inc., North America's largest glass recycler, to offer residents a home convenient way to recycle glass. A pilot program will include ten locations throughout the city with a goal of continuing to expand.  The first two locations are now open:
  • Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center (2208 Washington Ave)- 24 Hour Access
  • Sharpstown Park (6600 Harbor Town Dr.)- Only Accessible During Park Hours

    ROAD CLOSURES ALERT  
Beginning on Friday, July 8th, TXDOT will close the following areas along IH-45 through the end of the year.  Please use the detours below:
Location: Southbound Entrance Ramp from Allen Parkway
Lanes Affected: Total Closure
Detour: Continue eastbound on Allen Parkway/Dallas, turn right on Smith St., left on Jefferson St., and follow Jefferson to the I-45S entrance ramp.
Location: Southbound Entrance Ramp from Houston Ave
Lanes Affected: Total Closure
Detour: From Houston Ave take a left onto Rusk St., turn right on Smith St., left on Jefferson St., and follow Jefferson to the I-45S entrance ramp.
