COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program Still Available
Need Rental Assistance? Funding is still available for the COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program. Landlords and tenants can still sign up by going to the BakerRipley Portal.
Even if the Landlord is not signed up, a tenant can still register and the City will try to help. To apply, click here.
Old Sixth Ward Halloween Competition
Celebrate Halloween safely this year! If you are located in the Old Sixth Ward Neighborhood, take a picture of your decorated home and enter the Halloween House Decorating Contest. Please submit your photos by Wednesday, October 28th at Noon here.
Buffalo Bayou and Tributaries Resiliency Study Virtual Workshops
The Army Corps, in coordination with the Harris County Flood Control District began evaluating alternatives in 2018 to reduce flooding under a range of flood events. This effort is the Buffalo Bayou & Tributaries Resiliency Study.


There are two upcoming public information sessions where you can get involved in the study process and enhance your understanding of the roles we all play in reducing flood risk:
  • Thursday, October 22, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
  • Monday, October 26, 1:00 -3:00 PM

Free Virtual Music Friendly Community Workshop
On Monday, October 26 at 6 pm via Microsoft Teams, the Texas Music Office and the Houston Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs will co-host a virtual Music Friendly Community Workshop. The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning about the new Texas Music Office program.

This weekend, grab two wheels for a day at a B-cycle station and ride mural to mural on a self-guided bike tour that explores the intersection of art and ecology, from former farms to the Districtโ€™s natural boundaries at the White Oak and Buffalo Bayous.

A map and audio guide is available for download featuring the four muralists, Janavi Folmsbee, Patty Barrera, Jessica Guerra, and Jessica Rice, who explain how they generated vibrant painted imagery from their environmental research. More information here.

The City's COVID positivity rate increased to 5.6% this week, up from 5% last week. COVID is still very much with us so please continue to be safe! The Future of Solid Waste Management
A survey about trash may seem like no big deal, but your answers will determine how the recycling program works, how to more efficiently use the solid waste departmentโ€™s funds, how to reduce illegal dumping, and the availability of other services like composting, community disposal centers, and more!
