Walk A Shelter Dog, Fall In Love!
BARC, the Parks Department, and  Council Member Karla Cisneros have teamed up to host BARC in the PARK as part of  Love Your Pet Month. Adoptable shelter pets will be transported by the adoptions trailer Council Member Cisneros funded and will be available to be taken on walks by community members in the park. Don’t miss out on the chance to walk a dog and maybe even take one home for just $20!

Denver Harbor: Free Spay/Neuter Available
Council Member Cisneros  has partnered with K9 Angels to bring  The Empty Shelter Project  to the Denver Harbor Multi Service Center on March 2, 2019.  The Empty Shelter Project provides 350+ FREE spay and neuter services in under-served areas to pet owners of all income levels. Northline: Parent Safety Summit
Families of students in the Sam Houston MSTC feeder pattern are invited to learn about safety issues impacting your children and the community. Issues include but are not limited to: cyber security, school security, immigrant rights, depression, gangs, gun safety, and human trafficking.

2nd Ward: Family Day At Houston Maritime Museum
All are invited to discover the ancient maritime civilizations of Italy, Greece, and Phoenicia! Families will be able to decipher Latin words, learn about the process of dyeing cloth, and decorate their own amphorae. There's even a special kid's presentation at 1 pm! Don't miss the Houston Maritime Museum's Family Day, which offers free admission to all.

Apply By the 3/1 Deadline: Summer Food Service Program
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) 2019 Summer Food Service Program for youth ages 1 to 18 will operate from June 3 through August 9. Churches, non-profits, apartment complexes, learning centers, and schools are encouraged to apply by the March 1st deadline.
