District H Town Hall MONDAY, APRIL 25th
The City of Houston is holding a townhall meeting in each Council district to explain the redistricting process, and to allow the public to provide input on how they want their district to look in the future. Capital Improvement Project (CIP) meetings will follow the Redistricting Town Halls. While anyone can attend any redistricting meeting, CIP updates are specific to the district in which the meeting is held. 
The District H Town Hall will take place on Monday, April 25th at Moody Park Recreation Center, as well as virtually on Microsoft Teams.

Council Member Cisneros and the District H Team will be interviewing qualified applicants for the TechConnect Summer Internship on Saturday, April 30th. Any young person, aged 16-24, can apply through this link. Eligible HCC students can earn a competitive hourly rate and meet their employment requirements for the Federal Work Study Program. Community Meeting about Blocked Railroad Crossings
The East End Chamber of Commerce is hosting a community meeting with Elected Officials and Union Pacific representatives to discuss current operations on Clinton Dr. and share concerns about railroad crossing disruptions. Free Spay/Neuter for East End Pets
Barrio Dogs, in conjunction with Emancipet and Houston Humane Society will be holding a registration event this Saturday at Settegast Park. District H residents living in 77003, 77011, and 77020 are eligible to sign up for free spay or neuter plus vaccinations & microchip for your pet. Garden Workday & Earth Day Celebration
The Avenue Place Community Garden and Orchard is hosting a Garden Workday and Earth Day Celebration. Avenue Place residents and volunteers will be building a Rainwater Harvesting Structure, planting, and refreshing compost in the garden beds. Lunch, snacks, and water will be provided!

Free Mental Health Resources for District H Communities
The Harris County Commissioners Court has funded a new initiative that will offer a new kind of mental health resources to the District H communities of Northline/Northside, Eastex-Jensen, and Independence Heights. Community Learning Circles equip community members with tools and training to support each other, strengthening community health and resiliency. View more details here.

Every Day is Earth Day at Buffalo Bayou Park
Registration for the Earth Day clean-up event has closed, but Buffalo Bayou Park encourages everyone to pick up trash and dispose of it in the park's garbage and recycling bins. Throughout the month of April, visitors can stop in the Visitor Center and pick up a biodegradable trash bag to make pick-up even easier.

2nd Booster Available through Houston Health Dept. Sites
People over the age of 50 and certain immunocompromised individuals who received an initial booster dose at least four months ago are now eligible for second COVID booster. COVID testing, vaccination, and boosters at Houston Health Department-operated sites remain FREE and do not require insurance.

Free Program for Dads through Depelchin
DePelchin is recruiting participants for their Depelchin All Dads Succeed (D.A.D.S) Program. The program has two components, 24/7 DADS Program (12 weeks) and the Supporting Fathers Involvement (16 weeks with the option for 8 weeks). This program is FREE OF CHARGE that provides incentives such as gift cards for enrollment and at completion. HPD Resource: Find a Towed Car
If you are looking for your car after it has been towed in Houston, you can begin by searching online findmytowedcar.com, at Houston Police Department's. You can search by license plate, VIN, or other information. Please note: you will need to wait at least 2 hours from the time your car was towed until it is listed on the website. You can also call the tow line at 713-308-8580.
BARC Helps Reunite Owners and Lost Pets
BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., for pet owners looking for their lost pets. Additionally, please register on www.PetHarbor.com to get daily emails of found pets in the area that match your pet’s description. You can also search through photos of BARC’s animals on 24 Pet Connect under the “Lost My Pet” section. For more details on how BARC reunites owners and lost pets, visit this webpage.
