2nd Ward: Council Member Cisneros' Final TechConnect Fair This Friday, 7/13
Learn to code, participate in interactive tech activities, and enjoy  FREE FAMILY FUN  at the final TechConnect Fair of the year. HCC Manufacturing, the Library's mobile technology lab, Rice University, and the TechConnect Interns will join Council Member Cisneros at this Friday's event.

Second Ward: Mural Unveiling
Join Council Member Cisneros at the launch of the Muertos Mural tomorrow evening! This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. An original mural created at the behest of Morales Funeral Home on the Morales Radio Hall by Houston artist Angel Quesada also known as “ARTKUNGFU” celebrates the culture and traditions of the historical 2nd Ward neighborhood using life and death as its theme. Eastex-Jensen: Houston Arts Alliance Grants Workshop July 13th
Council Member Cisneros invites you to a workshop in District H on current and upcoming grant opportunities for individual artists and community-based organizations with arts/cultural programming. Come learn about HAA's different grant categories, eligibility requirements, deadlines, grant writing tips and other resources.

Denver Harbor: Self-Defense For Women
Women and teen girls ages 13 years and up are invited to attend a self-defense class based on Martial Arts. You will be taught basic techniques of Aikido by a 2 nd degree black belt Sensei. For more information and to RSVP for a spot, send an email here. Participants should dress in fitness/workout gear. For safety reasons no small children allowed. Requesting $3 donation per class. Water and snacks will be available.

Carnegie Library: Para Los Niños
If your family's first language is Spanish, you are invited to attend the Children's Museum's Para Los Niños program at Carnegie Library later this month. The program consists of a workshop providing parents with a model of how and what to read to a child, hands-on activities easily replicated at home, info on free resources, and free passes to the Children's Museum of Houston. Blood Drive 7/22
Take some time to save a life: donate blood at the Resurrection Catholic Church Blood Drive. For every blood donation a $10 contribution will be made to the Youth Group to fund missions, charities, church camp, special projects youth group activities and more. Mayor’s Back to School Fest
It's that time again! Register your children here for the Mayor's Back to School Fest in order to take advantage of free backpacks, school supplies, health screenings, immunizations, and social service resources. Due to limited space and supplies, you must pre-register for this event. Note: You can also register by calling 311!
