Open House: The Connection of Neighborhoods in Preparation of I-45 Expansion

The North Houston Highway Improvement Project (NHHIP) presents a once in a generation opportunity to connect neighborhoods and create great spaces in the central city. The Planning & Development Department invites the public to attend one of the two remaining open houses in order to participate in the planning of future opportunities that will enhance the highway corridor with new parks, trails, and civic amenities. CASE for Kids City Connections, funded directly by the City of Houston, supports organizations that address the need for youth services outside the school day. Projects funded by the CASE for Kids City Connections programs are in places like schools, community centers, apartment complexes and churches. Houston Paints Mexico
Downtown: Mural Unveiling Celebration
Houston Public Library's newest exhibit, Houston South and North of the Border: Houston Paints Mexico features works by early 1920's Houston artists inspired by Mexico. Exhibit is free and open to the public. Click here for more info.

Join Council Member Cisneros at the Unveiling Celebration on September 6th for a mural The Heritage Society commissioned to celebrate the contributions of the Mexican-American community. The collective artwork,  Mexican-American History & Culture in 20th Century Houston , highlights the places, personalities, and events that shaped the Mexican-American community.
