Building Lead Free 4 A Healthy Me Event With Health & Resource Fair
Join Council Member Cisneros and the City of Houston, HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, and resource providers at the Building Lead Free 4 A Healthy Me health and resource fair. Kicking off the removal of lead from many neighborhood homes, this fair will feature fun activities for kids include meeting Walkaround Elmo, face painting, a pop up library, live music and more.

Independence Heights: Seeking Artists
Independence Heights is in the process of creating a master arts plan for the community. To help ignite the process, they are looking for local artists to join the Independence Heights Arts Council. Interested artists should attend an "Artist Meet and Greet" event on Wednesday, April 18th from 5 pm - 7 pm at the Independence Heights Park Community Center (603 E. 35th).

The Solid Waste Department is continuing to collect material that has been generated due to leaking roofs, damaged outdoor property improvements, and green waste from fallen or broken trees and vegetation. Avoid any health hazards and DO NOT hold on to your piles in your backyards, inside your home or garages.
