Community Stakeholder Workshop
The City of Houston's General Services Department is hosting an open forum for the community to discuss the long term vision for the City of Houston properties in Western Downtown. Don't miss this informative and interactive event designed to engage all users of city facilities in the master plan area.
Please note the location has moved to 500 McKinney Street.

Harris County Candidate Forum
Candidates running for Harris County Judge and for County Commissioner Precinct 2 will be at a candidate forum next week at the Moody Community Center to give you the opportunity to hear from them before you vote in November. Spanish interpretation will be available. Click here for more info .

2nd Ward: Day of the Dead Workshop
MECA is holding a series of Día de Muertos/Day of the Dead workshops for those wanting to learn more about this annual Mexican tradition. Participants will be given a brief history of the tradition and tips on how to set up a traditional Ofrendas Altar.

When: Friday, 9/21, 7-8 pm.

Emergency Response Training
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities. This class is coordinated by the City of Houston Homeland Security, is taught by subject matter experts, and is free of charge. Held on Mondays 9/10 - 10/29 at Greater First Baptist Church in Independence Heights ( 4411 Haygood St. ), you can send an email here to register and get more info.

City Referendum Elections
Come get the facts and ask your questions at Mayor Sylvester Turner's town hall meetings about the Rebuild Houston and Fire Union salary referendum elections on the November 6, 2018 ballot.
