Join Council Member Cisneros and the City of Houston as review Near Northside Complete Communities Draft Action Plan which lists program goals and actions, timeframes, metrics, and partners. If you would like to comment, ask questions, or help establish priorities, this is the meeting for you!

Rebuilding Together Seeking After Harvey Rebuilding Project Volunteers
Both skilled and unskilled volunteers and crew leaders are needed to assist in day-long Home After Harvey home rebuilding projects. Projects can include tasks such as floor installation, home exterior repair, kitchen counter installation, and more. Individual volunteers should sign up here , crew leaders here.

Free Self-Defense Classes For Women
Carnalismo Brown Berets de Houston have partnered with PsyCombat to bring free self-defense classes for women.  Open to the public, be sure to RSVP here as space is limited. Wear work out clothing and comfortable shoes. Due to limited space, small children cannot be accommodated. No child care is provided. Light post workout snacks and water will be provided.

New Art Festival Grant Opportunity!
The Festival Grant program provides support of up to $10k to fund art festivals or art components of cultural festivals to celebrate Houston’s diversity and promote the city’s creative identity as a unique arts and culture destination. Festivals are defined as special events that are periodic (often annual) occurring within a limited period of time and should be inclusive and accessible to the general public.  Click here for more information and to apply.
