GPD Receives Feedback from Planning Commission, Architectural Board of Review

The GPD Group and Robert P. Madison International project teams presented the latest renderings and site plan for design discussion at the April 7 Shaker Heights Architectural Board of Review meeting. Click here to view the renderings and site plan. The meeting was productive and the team received constructive feedback on the design. The design team will be making updates to the renderings with this feedback, which includes looking at the connection points of the existing building and new addition, the fenestration rhythm and detail, and material studies.

The team also presented at the Shaker Heights Planning Commission meeting on April 8 for site plan approval. Approvals through the Planning Commission include variances for parking and loading area screening, in addition to site plan approval. Based on feedback from the board, the team will be working through updating the site lighting and landscaping, as well as incorporating their feedback on the building design.

The building design is progressing and the team will be updating the design and renderings with comments from the board, as well as community input.

Construction Fence at Woodbury Expected in Late April, Early May

The construction fence at Woodbury is expected to be erected from late April into early May. The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) is currently reviewing the guaranteed maximum price (GMP), then Gilbane will move forward with releasing contracts and fence installation.

Sustainability Discussions Continue with Emerald Built Environments

Representatives from the Shaker Heights Schools recently met with Emerald Built Environments, sustainability consultants that provide services at the intersection of sustainability, business, and the built environment. The District continues to have ongoing conversations with Emerald to complete a Districtwide energy analysis, develop a core LEED strategy, and review existing facility operations. Stakeholder engagement remains a top priority in sustainability planning. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming engagement opportunities.
