Initial Woodbury Design Heads to BOE for Approval

The initial design for the Woodbury building will head to the Board of Education meeting on Monday, April 7 for approval. Woodbury is in the schematic design phase, which is the base design of the building, and includes elements like square footage and cost. In the next phase, called design development, the renderings will display more mechanical systems within the building and show a built-out floor plan.

Ludlow Playground Update

On March 27, District officials and representatives from the Shaker Schools Foundation met with members of the Ludlow Community Association to review plans for a playground on the property. Community members were supportive of this plan, and the group identified playground equipment appropriate for PreK-5 children and children in grades 6-12. The playground design will be up for review at the City’s Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on May 6.

Ludlow Drainage Analysis

The City of Shaker Heights conducted a drainage analysis on the property that identified where stormwater pipes were clogged and backed up. The blockage has been corrected. The drainage analysis is now addressing puddling, which occurs in portions of the fields, and determining what corrective action is necessary.

Initial Design Underway at Fernway

Architects from Robert P. Madison International recently met with administrators and staff at Fernway Elementary School to work on a conceptual design. The architects and District staff members are reviewing budget estimates and discussing where additional classrooms could be built.
