Ongoing Partial Demolition at Woodbury

Partial demolition at Woodbury is ongoing. Gilbane Building Company and AKA Construction Management started demolition with the pool and gym. Building material from those structures has been removed from the site. Contractors have completed concrete removal from the pool foundation. The demolition of the west wing will begin next week, then the east wing will follow. The center building of Woodbury, which was built in 1918, will be retained and renovated. The District is working with Gilbane to finalize signage for the construction fence, which will show a rendering of the new building.

Woodbury Road Sidewalk Closure

Part of the sidewalk is closed on the east side of Woodbury Road due to the construction fence. The sidewalk closure is between the corner with South Woodland Road and the rose garden. The crossing guard at South Woodland will direct students to walk along the west side of Woodbury Road, then the crossing guard at the intersection of Woodbury and Onaway Road will assist students in crossing the street to reach Onaway Elementary School and Shaker Heights High School.

Ludlow Renovation Update

Gilbane Building Company and AKA Construction Management are making progress every day at the Ludlow Early Learning Center, including on weekends. All playground equipment will be installed by the end of today. The drain tile, gravel and mulch surrounding the playground will be installed next week.

Sidewalks around the main entrance and playground are complete. Next week, the contractors will begin forming the parking lot and preparing for gravel and paving. Furniture delivery took place today, and will continue to be installed in classrooms next week.
