Ongoing Partial Demolition at Woodbury

Partial demolition is underway at Woodbury. The pool, gym and west wing have been demolished, and the east wing is expected to be torn down in the coming weeks. The center building will be retained and renovated.

The District communicated the need for walkers going to Onaway Elementary School and the High School to use alternative routes due to sidewalk closures near the construction site. On August 27, the District met with representatives from GPD Group, Gilbane Building Co. and the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) to review the design development budget for the $58 million project and identify efficiencies that will keep the project within budget.

Ludlow Renovation Update

The District has determined the need to delay the opening of the Ludlow Early Learning Center until Monday, September 15. The District, the construction teams and its partners with the City of Shaker Heights are confident that this will be the last delay. After a meeting with City officials on August 27, the District concluded that the timeline for securing the necessary permits from the city, fire department and state make an earlier opening impractical. While this delay is frustrating, the permitting process ensures a healthy and safe environment for our students and staff. Despite the delay, the District will go ahead with a planned dedication of the building on September 12.
