Woodbury Partial Demolition Underway

Partial demolition at Woodbury is ongoing. Gilbane Building Company and AKA Construction Management started demolition with the pool and gym, then they will move on to the wings. The crew is spraying water during the demolition to minimize dust. The center building, which was built in 1918, will be retained and renovated. The District has been working with Gilbane to develop signage for the construction fence, which will show a rendering of the new building.

In the spring of 2026, contractors will begin work on the addition, including classrooms, an auditorium and a natatorium. The Woodbury building will reopen in Fall 2027 as the new Middle Years building.

Facilities Advisory Committee Meeting Updates

The Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) met on Monday, August 4. Andrew Pratt, an arborist with The Dirty Horticulturist LLC, gave a presentation on his role as a consultant for the District, including pre-construction planning, tree risk assessments, construction tree protection oversight and post-construction remediation. FAC members shared a variety of questions with Mr. Pratt, including his ongoing projects with the District, placement of tree protection fencing and tree remediation efforts.

Todd Gerber of Gilbane Building Company also provided an update on Ludlow and Woodbury construction to the FAC members. He shared a construction timeline for Ludlow and Woodbury, and shared progress photos from Ludlow.

Ludlow Renovation Update

Gilbane Building Company and AKA Construction Management are taking advantage of the sunny weather this week at the Ludlow Early Learning Center. The elevator is installed and awaiting inspection. Playground equipment installation is taking place this week. Restroom wall tile installation and gymnasium ductwork have been completed, and door frame installation is underway. Various other types of work are ongoing, including construction of the vestibule, painting, wood floor staining and installation of plumbing and lighting fixtures.
