Ludlow Brick Approved by ABR and Playfield Update

The City’s Architectural Board of Review approved the exterior brick selection for the new Ludlow Early Learning Center lobby addition. Sample brick panels are often constructed to show how brick selected for new additions will match the existing brick of a building. Interior demolition continues in the building in advance of renovations starting in January. Additional discussions for the Ludlow Playground and Playfield will continue in January with residents and City officials. A revised site plan will be shared as it is updated next month.

Ludlow Preschool Early Enrollment Encouraged

All parents who are interested in enrolling their preschool student in the Ludlow Early Learning Center’s preKindergarten program next fall are encouraged to visit the District’s preschool webpage. Early enrollment is strongly encouraged.

Visual Preference Survey Exceeds Response Goal

The District would like to thank everyone who took time to respond to the Woodbury Visual Preference Survey. The five-week long survey received 1,633 responses. The survey exceeded the Board of Education’s goal of 5% with a 5.7% response rate. Residents of all ages and from all neighborhoods shared their preferences for the new Woodbury Campus Design. A report will be posted to the District website soon.

Woodbury Tree Assessment – Phase 1

The first phase of the Woodbury Tree Assessment is complete. The certified arborist inventoried and assessed more than 150 trees. Each tree is identified by number with a round metal disk. Interested residents are invited to review the tree inventory report and appendices and submit questions or comments.

Woodbury Campus Site Design Continues to Evolve

The Woodbury Campus Design continues to evolve. An updated site plan and building massing will be presented for preliminary review and feedback from the Architectural Board of Review on January 6. The Facilities Advisory Committee will meet on January 13 to provide feedback prior to the Board of Education meeting on January 14. Also, as part of the demolition plans, a salvage plan has been completed and has recommended removal and reuse of several exterior architectural elements on the existing building.

Thanks for Your Engagement

The District would like to thank residents who have submitted questions and comments about the Long-Term Master Facilities Plan. Topics such as universal accessibility and design, parking and traffic flow, and sustainability strategies, among others continue to help inform the design of the new Woodbury Campus.
