Woodbury Demolition Slated for Late July

The Woodbury demolition is slated to begin in late July. The District, Gilbane Building Company and arborist Andrew Pratt, owner of The Dirty Horticulturist, LLC,  are working to ensure that tree protection fencing is in place prior to the start of demolition. Abatement is complete in the gym, pool and west wing of the building. Abatement is ongoing in the east wing and the 1917 building (center of the Woodbury building that will be renovated). Mass demolition will begin with the pool, then move to the gym in August.

District Meets with Emerald Built Environments on Sustainability

Matthew Setzekorn and Michael Fodor of Emerald Built Environments recently met with District officials to discuss energy efficiency goals. The Emerald representatives conducted a survey with District leaders to gather more information about their commitment to energy efficiency, potential challenges for implementation such as training, and available funding. The District noted several priorities for sustainability, including LEED certification and maximizing the use of outside light. Emerald representatives noted that they are incorporating feedback from community stakeholders, including the Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) and PTO members, while developing their District Sustainability Plan.

Ludlow Renovation Update

The Ludlow renovation is progressing as planned. Last week, footers were poured for the northern vestibule addition. Ductwork installation is taking place in the gymnasium. Various other types of work are ongoing, including painting, wood floor staining, and installation of the elevator shaft, restroom wall tile, roofing, windows, and plumbing and lighting fixtures. Various inspections by the City building department are scheduled to take place in late July and early August.
