Woodbury Demolition Slated for Mid-July

At the June 16 Architectural Board of Review (ABR) meeting, architects from GPD Group received conditional approval for the demolition of the Woodbury wings. Demolition of the wings is slated for mid-July. Members of the ABR had a few suggestions on the glass/masonry transitions on the exterior facade and brick detailing. District Retains Arborist Consultant

The Shaker Heights Schools plan to retain an arborist from The Dirty Horticulturist, LLC for arboricultural consulting services. This firm has 30 years of green industry experience and specializes in tree risk assessment, tree health care, and oversight during site development. This is the same consulting firm that performed preliminary studies at Woodbury and Ludlow.

The District plans to use the firm for pre-construction planning, tree risk assessments, construction tree protection oversight, post-construction remediation, on-call emergency services, and general consultation throughout the implementation of the Long-Term Master Facilities Plan.

Ludlow Renovation Update

The Ludlow renovation is progressing as planned. Despite challenging weather conditions, contractors with Gilbane Building Company and AKA Construction Management continue to make strides in the renovation. Last week, footers were poured for the northern vestibule addition. Drywall in the gym is being taped and sanded. Various other types of work are ongoing, including painting, wood floor staining, and installation of the elevator shaft, restroom wall tile, roofing, windows, and plumbing and lighting fixtures.
