GPD Group Presents Woodbury Design to Architectural Board of Review

Architects from GPD Group presented the latest renderings for the Woodbury building to the Architectural Board of Review on Monday. The board members provided positive feedback on the revised renderings, and offered several recommendations on brick color choices and window openings. The architectural team will appear before the ABR on June 16 for conditional approval.

Facilities Advisory Committee Meeting on June 9

The Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) will meet on Monday, June 9. Project Manager Michael Fodor of Emerald Built Environments will give a presentation on sustainability efforts as part of the Long-Term Master Facilities Plan. Architects from GPD Group will also present the revised Woodbury renderings, which were presented to the Architectural Board of Review this week.

Board of Education to Vote on GMP 2 on June 10

On June 10, the Board of Education will be asked to approve a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) resolution from Gilbane Building Co. for the second phase of construction at Woodbury.

This GMP covers the development of the building pad for new construction as well as external demolition of the current structure’s “wings.” The GMP commits that this phase of work will be completed at an agreed upon cost not to exceed approximately $1.75 million.

The Board of Education approved the GMP for the first phase of construction on March 11. That work included asbestos abatement and selective demolition. The Board will be asked to approve a GMP for the third and final phase at a later date.

Ludlow Renovation Update

Gilbane Building Co. has erected tree protection fencing in various locations around the Ludlow building to protect trees and their root zones, as seen in the photo to the right.

Foundation footers have been poured on the southern vestibule addition at Ludlow. Excavation has begun for the northern vestibule, and footers will follow. New window installation has also begun on the second floor of the building. Drywall installation, painting, and wood floor staining is ongoing.
