Two-Way Traffic on Woodbury Road

Woodbury Road will be used as the site entrance for construction work at the Woodbury building. Therefore, Woodbury Road will have two-way traffic throughout the day. The one-way traffic sign at the corner of South Woodland Road and Woodbury Road was removed earlier this week. Please keep this change in mind while driving through the Onaway neighborhood.

As you have seen, the fence has been erected around Woodbury. The blacktop play area next to Onaway will be striped for parking after school ends in June. Once the blacktop off Onaway Road is striped for parking, we ask families to play with their children within the playground fence instead of on the blacktop.

Architects Update Woodbury Design

At the City Working group meeting on May 22, architects from GPD Group presented revisions to the exterior design of the Woodbury building. Members of the working group provided feedback on the design to better blend in with the neighboring houses and other schools in Shaker Heights. Working group members asked architects to continue revising the design, such as incorporating more window panes. The renderings will be presented to the Architectural Board of Review next month.

Woodbury Site Plan Receives Preliminary Approval

The Planning Commission granted preliminary approval for the Woodbury site plan on May 13. The District is awaiting conditional approval, which is required for mass demolition. Construction crews are working on interior abatement prior to mass demolition, which is slated for mid-July.

Ludlow Renovation Update

The Ludlow renovation is moving forward as planned. This past week, contractors have proceeded with exterior wall demolition in order to build a new vestibule, where students will enter the building. Excavation and cleaning of masonry is taking place on the outside of the building, in addition to removal and patching of limestone pieces. Wood floor staining in classrooms and light fixture installation in corridors on the second floor has begun, as well.
