Woodbury ABR, Planning Commission Approval

Last week, the City’s Architectural Board of Review (ABR) and Planning Commission approved District plans related to the renovations at the Woodbury school building. The approvals by these two City commissions are significant as they will enable the Woodbury renovation project to continue on schedule.

On November 3, 2025, the ABR approved revised plans related to renovations at Woodbury. Architects from the GPD Group and Robert P. Madison International represented the District at the hearing. The revised plans were in response to comments and recommendations the ABR shared during a September 2025 hearing.

On November 5, 2025, the City’s Planning Commission approved plans for lighting and signage at the Woodbury school building. Representatives from GPD made the presentation. The District is in ongoing conversations with the City of Shaker Heights and community members regarding the rose garden and trees near the Woodbury site.

At this time, Gilbane Building Company is working on final grade cuts and removing asphalt left from the former parking lot. The construction work on the addition is expected to begin in Spring 2026.

Ludlow Update

The Ludlow Early Learning Center opened for its inaugural class of preschool students in September. Contractors with Gilbane Building Company are working on a punch list of items to complete at Ludlow, including tuckpointing, decorative wall panels and more. The remaining work takes place outside of school hours.
