Ludlow Early Learning Center

All Shaker families are encouraged to visit the Ludlow Early Learning Center home page on the Long-term Master Facilities Plan website.

At the Board of Education’s Work Session on October 21, two options for the parking lot and playgrounds were reviewed. The School District is asking residents of the Ludlow neighborhood and other interested residents to provide feedback on the parking and playground site options for the Ludlow Early Learning Center.

Significant engagement of families and soon-to-be PreK students is underway. Over 40 families have joined the enrollment waiting list. Over the last month, PreK staff have:

  • attended Shaker Library Sessions of Storytime and Family Connections activities to raise awareness of the opportunity for PreK at Ludlow next fall
  • attended school Fall Festivals at Mercer, Fernway and Lomond
  • recruited three dozen high school students to be trained on November 6 in preparation of going door-to-door in the Ludlow and Moreland neighborhoods on Saturdays in November (9 and 15) and December (7 and 14).

Staff will be at Chelton Park on Saturday, October 26 for more PreK family engagement. Parents of Pre-K or soon-to-be Pre-K students are urged to sign-up for updates on the enrollment process and other helpful information about the benefits of Pre-K experiences.

Facilities Advisory Committee and Woodbury Neighbors Design Input Session

A joint work session of the Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) and Woodbury Neighbors will be held on Tuesday, October 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the High School cafeteria. The purpose of the meeting is to review three options of the site plan for the Woodbury Campus and provide feedback. The design team is seeking input into the schematic design process for the new Woodbury Campus. This session is in advance of the Visual Preference Survey, which will be available to all Shaker residents beginning November 1.

Also, dates for two FAC work groups are still being finalized. The work groups are being established for the District’s Sustainability plan and Athletics/Recreation to inform design decisions and program recommendations/policy for the Woodbury Campus.
