Watch the Feb. 22 Board Work Session on Facilities Planning

The Wednesday, February 22, Board of Education Work Session addressed long-term facilities planning. We encourage families and staff to watch the recording of the discussion here. The link includes a video index to highlight the video segments below, which you will see on the right side of the page. Please click on the topic link or scroll to the noted timestamp.

At this meeting, the Board of Education asked the District to explore portioning the Master Facilities Plan into two voted segments.

Highlights from the meeting include:

  • Superintendent Dr. David Glasner and Treasurer Bryan Christman: Timeline for a November 2023 Ballot Issue (0:05:18)
  • Chief Strategic Priorities Officer Dr. Marla Robinson and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Grosse: PreK Update (0:11:32)
  • Superintendent Dr. David Glasner, Treasurer Bryan Christman, Chief Operating Officer Jeff Grosse and Chief Strategic Priorities Officer Dr. Marla Robinson: Draft Sequencing Option Timelines (0:43:42)
  • Superintendent Dr. David Glasner: Decision Points and Next Steps (1:36:41)

Based on the Board of Education’s consensus and direction, the District is further exploring the following facilities plans:

  • Locate a preschool site in the Ludlow school building and potentially maintain the current program at Onaway School.
  • Convert K-4 elementary schools to include Grade 5. This would include an addition to Fernway.
  • Renovate all other elementary schools.
  • Renovate and expand Woodbury as a Middle Years Building (Grades 6-8).
  • Build a new High School building on the current High School campus.
  • Locate the District administration offices in the Ludlow school building with the option for relocation if the PreK program requires expansion in the future.
  • Explore portioning the Master Facilities Plan into two voted segments.

Discussions will continue in the coming months with a projected Board of Education vote on a master facilities plan in the Spring of 2023.
