Calling all Scouts to Attend the Life to Eagle Information Meeting, October 19, 2023

The Harding Area District would like to formally invite all Scouts (especially Life Scouts), their parents, and leaders to attend the “Life to Eagle” informational program on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 7:30 – 8:30 p.mat the Marion Scout Store/Service Center.  The intent of this program is to review the requirements for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and to get all eligible Life Scouts headed down that road immediately.

We feel it is important to bring Scouts, parents, and leaders together to review the process and ensure a sense of clarity regarding the requirements, timelines, service project, and paperwork. Scoutmasters – if you have Star Scouts that are close to earning Life, please strongly encourage them and their parents to attend also.

As part of the program, District Advancement Chair, Mike Watson, will review the Eagle Scout workbook that guides Scouts through the process to ensure that all requirements and deadlines are fully understood and questions about the process are completely answered.

We hope you will be able to attend this important session to get started down the trail to Eagle. Please RSVP by emailing the Marion Scout Store at Click Here to Email

90th Annual Harding Pilgrimage, Sunday, 10/8

This is an annual event to honor the memory of our 29th U.S. President, Warren G. Harding

and First Lady Florence Kling Harding,

both of whom served as honorary presidents

of the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts.

All Scout groups from any area and the public are welcome to attend. Commemorative patches are available for each participant.

NEW STAGING AREA! Scouts line up at the northwest parking lot behind the Sheriffs Department on Harding Memorial Parkway (this is the road behind Veterans Memorial Park that leads towards Doctors Park and the hospital). Arrive at 2:30 p.m. Scouts should be in full uniform. Units should have their flags and/or banners.

The parade steps off at 3:00 p.m. and ends at the Harding Memorial on the corner of Delaware Avenue and Vernon Heights Boulevard. There will be services at the Harding Memorial, which will conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m.

We recommend parents drop their Scout off at the staging area around 2:30 p.m. (please make sure their leader is present), and then proceed to the Harding Memorial to park and watch the parade. Join us on the lawn for the services, and then collect your Scout at the finish. The Harding Memorial will be open for tours after the ceremony. Please make sure Scouts have proper shoes and have used the restroom just before arrival. Families are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

Scouts should be reminded ahead of time that this is a parade of respect. Conduct during the parade should be low-key. While at the services we ask that Scouts and adults be respectful and attentive. For more information, email the Marion Scout Store at Click Here to Email
